FYI: Castor beans are supposed to be mole deterrents. On their way to eating all your worms, they eat a couple of roots and croak. It'd almost be worth it to plant a couple on my 10 acres near Mossyrock, WA.

Hmmm...I'm just not sure I'd want them "volunteering" for many years to come. I'll probably just stick to tried-and-true trapping them.

Thank you Melissa and Ken! Freida is sending me some of the castor bean seeds soon. Ken I thought that greenhouse Caleb had on his site was so pretty. The neat thing about it is you can open the windows to vent. Be sure and take pictures when you get yours done.

Mary -

Thanks for the lead on the greenhouse. Have checked out the URL and it looks like a really good starting point.

Mary -

I have a ton of them. Got them from a guy at church, from a "tree" that grew to almost 20' high in one year. In this zone, they die back every year, but in TX, they might survive longer. Will be glad to mail you some.

I love the caster beans to and grow some everyyear. Once you get a start save your seeds. I don't have extra as I have sent them along to my daughter ( shirley ) in Texas. Everyone in my neighbor alway want to know what that plant is olololo.

Hi Mary!
I got a book at a garage sale couple of weeks ago, Passalong Plants. Although I had some Castor Bean Plants years ago, when I moved I do not have nearly enough room for them. But the book says you can get them at Melligers, 800-321-7444 or Thompson and Morgan, 800-274-seed. Hope this helped.. wish I had some I could pass along to you!

Yes, I knew they were poisonous. I'm on 2/3 of an acre, so I think I can put them in a good spot. Thank you so much for your generosity, Freida! I'll be sure to message you. I have some seeds for morning glory that are big like Heavenly Blue, but they are even prettier and striped if you'd like some. I also have cilantro, coriander, and chives seeds if you'd like any of those.
