First lettuce sprout popped up today in the cold frame! I also have my greenhouse setup (only a raspberry plant in the ground so far). I am trying for year round gardening this year. However I am unsure where to get seeds for fall planting. Any suggestions? Also, if anyone would like to get/share information regarding cold frames and greenhouse please join the group I just started called greenhouse and cold frames!

Thanks!

So this year was pretty good for my first greenhouse try.  I started a lot of my green leafy veggies early.  I also started sunflowers early in the greenhouse.  They all did great, but as soon as I transplanted the sunflowers out they were eaten up (beetles or a animal?). =(  Luckily I left one potted sunflower in the greenhouse.  It is doing well in the greenhouse which is protecting it.  The lettuce was transplanted in coldframe and doing well.

I must admit that I cheated and got my peppers from the market around Tower City.  My grandpa takes me each year and I love the peppers I get from a little Amish lady!

Right now I have broccoli and brussel sprouts planted in the greenhouse.  My mom-in-law has said the putting the broccoli in there was a mistake because it will got to seed from being so warm.  I will see what happens and learn for next year!

How is everyone elses summer greenhouse gardens going.

This is a little late for this past fall planting, but you can get Mescher Bibb Lettuce seeds and Deer Tongue lettuce seeds from Landis Valley Museum, Lancaster, PA year-round.  If you don't mind mail order.  They are old varieties, very nice for salads, especially Mescher Bibb.  I volunteer for the heirloom seed project at the museum, and I can tell you they do well in the garden, planted from seed, with no extra work.

awesome, I would love to hear from you Doris!  It is always more fun to learn together.  I have some lettuce comming up in the greenhouse right now.  It has been doing well throughout the winter (as long as I get out there to water it).

Hey, Brenna!  Haven't been following the Gardener's Index, decided to get back to it and saw your post about cold frame and greenhouse gardening.  It's one of my goals to build a small lean-to greenhouse on the property in the next year or two, so I'd like to be involved with your group and learn as much as I can.
