This is my second year growing a vegetale garden. Last year i had no idea what i was doing. I simply thought id toss seeds in the ground , water them everynow and then and something should grow.. Well, a few things grew and died and most of everything else i think i pulled out and threw out as weeds cause i had no idea what anything was supposed to look like. I think i expected to see the vegetable sprout right away. What a fool i was. This year i have a small handful of friends guiding me through my garden, a great book my boyfriend got me on called Country Living, and of course the wonderful world of the internet. But even with all this i still keep hoping that im doing this right. So, i have planted lettuce, spinach, kale, radishes, 4 tomato plants, 2 jalepeno plants, onons, zucchini, yellow summer squash, okra, and pumpkins. I just found a packet of acorn squashg in my greenhouse that i want to find room for and i need some garlic in there to. There are also chives growing in my garden, and i believe an oregano plant ( I have only lived here a year and a half so im still figuring out what is growing here) and a small rosemary plant. Im always looking for information on when to plant or harvest, whats best to grow and where, and how to make the best use of my greenhouse. If you read this all thanks for taking the time to learn a little about my green little space on our beautiful earth. :)

Comment by Jessie on May 30, 2012 at 1:39am Hi Elsa,
This sounds a lot like me from my first time growing veggies :) First things first...don't give up! It sounds like your doing a wonderful job! And you're getting the help and information you need from lots of sources. It's been a learning process for me as well. I just started a veggie garden again (for the second time). I'm hoping this time it's with better success as well. The only plant that survived from last year is a cherry tomato plant that is now well over 5 feet tall. I wish you the best of luck. Keep learning and never give up. One day you'll be able to thank your all your friends with lots of yummy homegrown food :)
