Most succulents are killed by too much water. The yuccas leaves do die back on the bottom, and if they get too tall the weight will topple them. I then usually cut them off at the ground and let the next shoot come up. They may possibly be over fertilized and can't support the rapid growth. They like to be abused.

I guess it is a Yucca. I will go online and read up on them. i know that this had happened before and when I go to try and fix them they just come right not of the ground and then thery are gone.

That kind of cactus will do that, nothing wrong with your plant...isn't this a yucca plant? They do die down at the bottom in the late summer and early fall but they will return. I would be tempted to take the dead leaves off but looks like it may not be far enough in the ground. Go online and read about Yucca's. These have a white flower and I like them but my husband don't because they stick you and I think he cut mine down.
