I have a mock orange which was planted in August 2007, and is healthy and growing, but has yet to bloom.  Do I need to have it for a certain period of time before it blooms?

I don't fertilize and mine bloom...I'd just leave it alone!

Just to help that Hibiscus plant (and any plant for that matter) look for a organic product called "Atomic Grow" www.atomicgrow.info  My Tropicanna Hibiscus has been on that product for years, Tons of blooms, no pest infestations, no fungus, and I don't cover them against frost either because the plant is so stong against 32 degree wheather! That will kick start those blloms. I just wanted to help you my fellow gardeners :-)

Thanks David for the info - I will give it a try this year, after the 'supposed' blooming time.

philadelphus are like wisteria, if propagated from non-flowering wood they may take a while-try pruning it very hard and making life a little tougher for it.

It has been in full sun, and I pruned it in 2009, after what would have been the normal 'after blooming' time, had it bloomed.  It may go away or just be a nice shrub if I continue to let it stay and keep it pruned.

A non-blooming Mock Orange is a new one on me.    Mine are showing buds right now.    Only thing that would not allow it to bloom is not enough sun, and they do well in half-shade, too.    Try starving it of food and water-no fertilizer, no added water.   Don't know what else to do.  Move it?
