Help me decide. Do I keep this as a rose bed or incorporate some perennials? By the way the pillars look tilted but they aren't, just the angle of the photo.

Its pretty but roses do not tend to grow out unless they are bushes, I would plant something to cover the ground, also blackberry, raspberry and blueberry and strawberries grow good with roses, that has been my experience.

I think you should keep the perennials and it looks great:)

I think some statuery or large rocks in gray tones look nice and maybe some low growing bright blue flowers around the edges of the bed such as catmint or lobelia.

i am for incorporating perennials and stepables. also want to add i like how your block looks. all it needs is a neighborhood cat sauntering across the road. a good part of my yard designing is just thinking and picturing what i want to do. hope you have fun deciding.

I'd leave it as a rose bed.. with maybe a wee little bench thrown in there... Throw some bulbs in so that you get color as soon as winter is over.. that way the bed is always ALIVE. I always preferred pecan shells over mulch for small beds like this.

Thanks Shirley, I like your idea of the carpet rose. Thanks also Mary for your comment. The area is already mulched with black mulch....makes it look like dirt!

To keep the focus on the roses, I'd just mulch and add some rocks or garden art.

I like it too..... you could do a Carpet Rose on both ends and then add something of interest, like a few stepping stones.. I also would think asylum in white all the way around would make a beautiful bed..

Oh! Maris, what a beautiful garden.Do you think some border little flowers that match or blend with the color of the roses would look good? Have you ever visited van Bourgondien, the bulb lady? I like your Daylilllies.I have ordered some.Iam going to make a new garden, with bulbs.Wish me look!****************

I think it looks barren, maybe some low growing perennials and some stepping stones.
