The scars carved in the hard oak
Read like Braille beneath my fingertips,
Telling stories from generations of family
endless nights of homework,
frosting holiday cookies,
home cooked meals…..
Sharing, Living, Dreaming
Just as my mother, daughter and I did that early morning
laughing,
telling secrets~~~
holding back tears.
Lifetimes surround that old table.

(I just refinished the oak table my mother and her 10 siblings ate around over 80 yrs ago. My kids grew up around the same table. I am excited as it is gorgeous and will last another lifetime and be passed on to one of them. Maybe it isnt garden related but many a seed catalog and gardening magazine has been drooled over at this table.)
