Last weekend I went to a plant swap where everyone was thrilled to get one of my green bean seedlings that were already 5 inch high in a toilet paper roll. They thought the idea was great. Thought I'd pass it along. Don't throw out the paper rolls; use them to plant seeds in and then just dig a whole and plant the whole seedling in the ground; it's biodegradable.

I was excited to get lots of plants that day. My favorite find was the bengal cana lily. I love the foilage colors.

I'm hoping to find more ground covering ferns.

I'm planning on going to another plant swap this weekend. Can't wait to find something different. Check your area for local plant swaps. It's amazing how many plants you come away with.

hi..i used this idea this spring to plant my morning glories, cypress vines and moon flower....rosalie, also save your christmas wrapping paper rolls, and your paper towel rolls...i ususally cut them to four inches and before i plant them i open up the bottom or rip them....it's a neat idea and i usually use a plast container, like the ones you get from chinese food, pop holes in the bottom and them place that one inside another chinese container, so that the rolls aren't sitting in water...it works!

I LOVE this idea...how ingenious!!! Amazing.  I will definitely begin saving some rolls so I can do this next spring.  Darn it, I seeded about 30 trumpet plants and could have used paper rolls...would have saved $$!
