It has been so hot here the last few days that I haven't been outside much in "the little flower garden that could." When I planted it though, I chose the "hardy, no-care" plants! :D There's a slight cool front coming in though tonight, so that's help cut the humidity. Daylilies are numerous and should bloom soon; same with purple coneflower.

But despite the heat we've had round after round of storms, usually overnight, with blazing heat then during the day. Just a few nights ago, we actually had a microburst (mini tornado, straight-line winds) just three blocks from my house, on the campus of the university where I work. Tore up some ballfields and lots of tree/limb damage. Our university campus is the state arboretum so you can imagine how many trees. Lots of clean up! Funny thing though - the microburst hit just three blocks away but I only had an empty trash can knocked over and one small limb snapped. Amazing thing, Mother Nature!
